George R. Collins, D.O, is diplomat of the American Board of Pathology with board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology, dermatopathology, and cytopathology.  He received his undergraduate Bachelor’s degree from Concord University and his medical education from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV.  Upon graduation from medical school he entered into military service in the Army where he initially completed a one year rotating medical internship at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI.  He then finished a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, TX.  He later completed a fellowship in cytopathology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA, and then went on to complete a Dermatopathology Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX.  During his 13 years of military service in the Army, Dr. Collins served in several leadership positions. After the military he practiced with private pathology groups in Louisiana and Virginia.  He has previously held appointments as Assistant Clinical Professor of Pathology at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and Assistant Professor in Dept. of Biomedical Sciences at Virginia Tech Carillion School of Medicine where he also served as Director of Dermatopathology and Adjunct Faculty for the Carillion Dermatology Residency Program. Dr. Collins has published multiple articles in peer reviewed dermatology and pathology journals, and he has authored chapters in dermatopathology textbooks.

Dr. Collins is licensed in several states including Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
